4/16 WWE Raw taping spoilers: Full coverage of the taping for tonight's television show from London (spoilers)
Apr 16, 2012 - 04:12 PM

Dot Net readers Lee Thompson, Russell Smith, and Steven Greenwood are at the WWE Raw taping in London and are sending the following notes. You must refresh the page for the latest updates.

Raw opens with Mark Henry in the ring. C.M. Punk came out to a big pop and their match will open the show.

1. C.M. Punk defeated Mark Henry in a no DQ, no countout match for the WWE Championship is in progress. Punk's pop was massive and Lee wonders how well it will come across on television. Sexual Chocolate chants soon followed. Punk struggled to get offense early on. Punk won with a top rope elbow drop while holding a chair. It was like a Van Terminator-like elbow drop.

After the match, Chris Jericho interrupted to announce that his Extreme Rules match with Punk will be a Street Fight. Jericho also showed footage of Punk walking out of a pub.

2. Santino Marella beat David Otunga to retain the U.S. Title. Very quick match. Santino spent more time doing a soccer shirt bit beforehand than the actual match lasted.

Lord Tensai was shown backstage. He wouldn't answer any questions. The crowd booed.

There are Brock Lesnar sound bytes airing throughout the show. He is swearing, but it's being bleeped out.

3. Kane fought Zack Ryder to an apparent no-contest. Ryder came out to a small pop, which disappointed Russell who is wearing his Broski shirt. Kane got an average pop. He chokeslammed Ryder, but never bothered to pin him. Instead, he cut a promo about beating up Bob Orton Jr. on Smackdown. There was no finish to the match.

Backstage, Kofi Kingston was chatting with A.J. Daniel Bryan saw them talking and got jealous. Bryan changed the name of his finisher to the "Yes! Lock." The "Yes!" chants are deafening. Bryan is super over in London.

John Cena came out for a promo. The anti-Cena fans outnumber the pro-Cena fans roughly 70-30. Cena acknowledged the "Yes" chants again and joined in. He cut a very intense, serious promo with no smiling or jokes. John Laurianitis interrupted and announced the Cena and Brock contract signing for next week. Lee noted that it seemed like the serious style Cena used turned some of the crowd in his favor by the end of the segment.

There was an "awful" comedy skit with with Hornswoggle and R-Truth backstage.

In a lost note from earlier in the show, Big Johnny flubbed his lines in his segment with Cena, but he did book Cena vs. a mystery opponent in an Extreme Rules match for tonight's show.

4. Daniel Bryan beat Kofi Kingston. Bryan won with the Yes Lock, which was very popular with the crowd. Bryan wouldn't release the hold. Sheamus came out for the save. He went for the Brogue Kick, but Bryan avoided it and rolled out of the ring. Bryan and Kofi worked a good style together and all of Bryan's moves were cheered.

5. Brodus Clay beat Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero) by an apparent DQ. Big pop for Brodus. It appeared Dolph was DQ'd for Vickie interfering, as Brodus danced after about 30 seconds.

There was a backstage promo with Eve and John Laurinaitis. It was hard for Russell to hear him due to his husky voice.

6. Big Show and The Great Khali defeated Primo and Epico in a non-title match. Khali looked awful and nearly fell over after delivering the big boot. It was a squash with the giants hitting simultaneous chokeslams for the win. Show was the only one in the match who received a decent reaction. Lots of quick matches. Show didn't even tag in, and Primo and Epico got no offense.

John Cena's mystery opponent for the main event is Lord Tensai. It's interesting that they gave this away before the match.

7. Lord Tensai defeated John Cena. There were a lot of "Albert" and dueling Cena chants. David Otunga interfered a bit with John Laurinaitis barking orders from ringside. Tensai won after spitting green mist into Cena's eyes and then following up with his finisher. The crowd seemed stunned by the outcome of the match. The television show will conclude with Cena getting medical attention and being carried to the back. He did a good job of selling the eye injury.

Dark Match

1. C.M. Punk beat Chris Jericho by DQ in a WWE Championship match. Punk won by DQ when Daniel Bryan interfered. Sheamus, Cody Rhodes, Big Show, Alberto Del Rio, and Randy Orton all did run-ins.
