Mark Henry comments on his WrestleMania weekend incident with Michael Hayes
Aug 14, 2008 - 04:09 PM |
Mark Henry said he has forgiven Smackdown lead writer Michael Hayes for the racial slurs he used during their infamous WrestleMania weekend confrontation. "Well, people that want to get into the negative aspect of what’s going on in any industry—that’s trying to sell newspapers, that’s trying to sell spots," Henry said in an interview with the Orlando Sentinel.
"Michael made a mistake, he paid for his mistake," continued Henry. "He has been forgiven. I can’t go into all of that again because I’ve moved on myself but let’s just say that we’re all human beings and we need to treat people as such." To read the full interview, Brian Fritz's blog at OrlandoSentinel.com.
Powell's POV: Kudos to Fritz for asking and to Henry for answering the question. I assume this was one of those media sessions set up by the company and it would have been easy for both interviewer and interviewee to avoid the topic. It's good to hear that Henry has forgiven Hayes and that both sides have moved on.
Henry also discussed what it's like having Tony Atlas on the road, his "Sexual Chocolate" days, and discusses the hand that Mae Young gave birth to on Raw several years ago.
