Dot Net Exclusive Notes: Vince McMahon's focus on Smackdown and Raw, Smackdown writing situation
Aug 6, 2008 - 09:31 AM

-Although many fans feel as though Smackdown has overtaken Raw as WWE's flagship show, the majority of Vince McMahon's focus is still aimed at the Monday night show. A well-placed source estimates that Vince dedicates between 75 and 85 percent of his creative energy toward Raw.

-Michael Hayes and Chris DeJoseph are writing Smackdown together. Hayes serves as the lead writer, while DeJoseph maps out the show. Ed Koskey is handling the bulk of the ECW writing duties now that Hayes is back on the job.

Powell's POV: Vince sees the Raw show as his baby, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised that he still focuses heavily on the Monday night show. If Smackdown is this good without his attention, then I actually hope he leaves Hayes and DeJoseph alone.

Speaking of the Smackdown writing crew, one source summed up their working relationship by saying, "Michael doesn't know what's cool and hip, while DeJoseph lives for VH1 and MTV." In other words, the source feels that DeJoseph helps Hayes keep the younger viewers in mind.
