WWE News: Alberto Del Rio says he genuinely dislikes The Miz and has tried to punch him in the face, comments on his injury and his current health status
Feb 10, 2012 - 04:03 PM

WWE star Alberto Del Rio appeared on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco on Friday to promote an upcoming Smackdown live event. The following are the highlights of the interview. You can listen to the full interview at 957thegame.com. Thanks to Dot Net reader Christopher Solis.

-Del Rio said he "completely tore" his groin. He labeled it the worst injury a man can suffer. He said they reattached a muscle from his leg to his hip. He said the surgery was done by the same doctor who handles all of the surgeries for the Philadelphia Eagles. "Now I'm running, jumping, and ready to roll into the ring." He hyped that he will face Sheamus in the ring this weekend.

-Del Rio also spoke about his MMA background and the popularity of Pride when it existed in Japan. He said he fought for five or six years. He said he was invited to fight because he was part of the Mexican Greco-Roman team.

-Del Rio said his uncle Mil Mascaras will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. "It will be special for me and my family," he said. Del Rio said he's wanted to be a wrestler since he was a kid, and said his uncle and father both worked with him.

-Del Rio said he doesn't hang out with many wrestlers outside of the ring. "To be honest, I don't like most of the guys," Del Rio said with a laugh.

-He was asked about pro wrestling groupies. "They're interesting," he said. "That's all I'm going to day," he said. "There are some ladies who really enjoy wrestling and they enjoy wrestlers."

-Del Rio said there's no way to fake being hit with a chair. He said everyone knows it's entertainment, but being hit with a chair really hurts.

-Del Rio was asked which wrestlers don't get along or that he doesn't like. "The Miz," Del Rio said. "I hate The Miz. This is not part of the show. I really dislike like that guy. I've tried to punch him in the face several times, not in the ring, I mean outside the ring. He's like a little girl. He's always running away from me...

-When the hosts joked that he and Miz are probably too similar, Del Rio disagreed. "There's a big difference between The Miz and I," Del Rio said. "I'm a real athlete. He's just a loud, stupid little kid. He's one of those guys who was probably bullied when he was in school and that's the reason now that he's so loud and he wants to get attention from everybody."
