WWE has renamed its film division "WWE Studios," according to an article in Monday's Variety. "We're now in filmed entertainment, not just the film business, said WWE's Michael Lake. "If we're going to be in this business, we need to be in the business."
The story lists several upcoming projects, including Mr. Kennedy's direct-to-DVD film Behind Enemy Lines 3, a sequel to John Cena's The Marine, and Suckerpunch, which will star Big Show, and is listed as a project revolving around bare knuckle fighting. To read the full article, visit Variety.com.
Powell’s POV: The story also notes that WWE plans to utilize some of their legends for future projects. The story specifically names Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Roddy Piper, and Ric Flair as possible candidates. Here's hoping the "masterminds" who scripted last week's Raw car stunt and last night's NYC Street Fight are also behind the script for The Marine 2.
