Jim Ross comments on his "confrontation" with Michael Cole, whether house shows serve as spoilers for future television events, Ric Flair DVD
Jul 7, 2008 - 03:43 PM

Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights.

-Ross on his in-ring confrontation with Michael Cole: "There is a piece of footage on WWE.com of J.R. confronting Michael Cole prior to Smackdown starting in Tulsa last week which was essentially done tongue in cheek (a practical joke) and for entertainment purposes only. I have said many times that I value my friendship with Cole which is a true statement. However, do I think that some Raw fans will still give Michael a hard time in his new role for a while….unfortunately, yes."

Powell's POV: I think the live crowds booing Cole has a everything to do with their affection for J.R. than their feelings for his replacement. One can only hope that Cole realizes this and doesn't take it personally. Better yet, here's hoping it inspires him. By the way, i'll have more to say about the Cole and Ross "confrontation" in a news item that will be available on the Dot Net Members' site shortly.

-Ross on whether house shows serve as spoilers for storylines: "I read a lot about 'spoilers' for future events based on live event bookings. This is one of the biggest misnomers in the biz as the folks that come up with the live event cards 99 percent of the time have no clue as to the creative direction, say, two-three months out. This isn’t just theory as have I not only 'been there' but I still consult on matters such as this upon occasion. This isn’t a big deal one way or another but it seems that some folks put more stock in 'spoilers' than the info might merit.

Powell's POV: WWE has been known to test the waters at house show events, but I think they do a good job of saving the reveals for television or pay-per-views.

-Ross on the Ric Flair DVD, which comes out tomorrow: "The new Ric Flair DVD is 'gold' and after watching it this weekend unless one absolutely hates 'Naitch,' and if so shame on you, this particular DVD is a must have for any true wrestling fan’s collection. Naturally, one can make an argument as to why certain matches were included and some were left off but all in all this is a helluva DVD and I love the seemingly endless interviews and some of the classic bouts are timeless."

Powell's POV: Looking forward to it. I'm guessing that this will be one of the hottest selling DVDs the company releases this year.

Other topics include Saturday's UFC show, his feelings on the Smackdown switch, and some cool signed items he has on display at his new store in Moore, Okla.
