WWE's Jim Ross comments on how much planning went into his Raw farewell and Edge's promo, his broadcast partnership with Mick Foley
Jul 2, 2008 - 12:00 AM

Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights.

-Ross on addressing the crowd on Raw: "Being able to address the crowd in OKC was a nice opportunity that is greatly appreciated on my end... I had a challenging time getting through the in ring promo as a million thoughts were running through my mind about my years on Raw, especially my OKC experiences, beginning my career in my home state, etc. I did not 'write' anything down to say nor did any one else if you are keeping score at home or simply just need to know that info. From what I understand neither did Edge."

Powell's POV: I just want to know if Edge came up with the "BarBQ Boy" line off the top of his head. Hilarious. It was cool that J.R. got a chance to address the Raw viewers, and Edge was really on last night.

-Ross on working with Mick Foley: "This will be my second Smackdown with my new color analyst Mick Foley and we should be better than we were last week, which I did not think was a bad effort. Developing chemistry takes time and I know without fail we will arrive at that desired destination as it is just a matter of when not if."

Powell's POV: I have no doubt that Ross and Foley will become a great team. I wasn't impressed with Foley's performance during their first Smackdown outing, but I thought he loosened up and did a better job during Sunday's pay-per-view.

-Ross on Tuesday's Smackdown taping: "It will be interesting to see how the new members of Smackdown step up on this week’s show to capitalize on the opportunity to make a positive 'first impression.' I hope this TV taping rocks Tulsa like we used to do on two Sunday nights a month when basically everything happened in the ring which kept the fans in attendance emotionally attached to the show and never let them 'relax.'"

Powell's POV: Speaking of the tapings, I'm still looking for a report on the show. If you attended the show and can help, send a report to dotnetjason@gmail.com.

Other topics include the old UWF promotion, more wrestling than talk on Smackdown, several WWE guests who made appearances at J.R.'s restaurants while in town.
