Christopher Nowinski discusses his retirement from WWE, Chris Benoit, and the effects of concussions in sports
Jun 16, 2008 - 04:15 PM |
Former WWE wrestler Christopher Nowinski commented on his concussion related retirement during an audio post on the Alzheimer Research Forum. Nowinski runs through his own history of concussions and his retirement from WWE and then discusses several professional athletes, including Chris Benoit, who have battled concussion problems.
"I fought very hard to get his brain studied because he told me in a locker room in Manchester, New Hampshire about a year prior that he had more concussions than he could count... He had been exhibiting a lot of strange behavior at the end of his life." To listen to the full audio clip of Nowinski's overview, visit AlzForum.org.
Powell’s POV: I respect for the work that Nowinski is doing via the Sports Legacy Institute. His group has worked work with NFL players and pro wrestlers to research and spread the word regarding concussions in sports. You can learn more about the Sports Legacy Institute by clicking here.
