WWE News: Steve Austin says he could work two more years as a pro wrestler, comments on potential dream matches
Apr 8, 2011 - 09:35 AM |
WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin told XfnityTV that he could work two more years as a full-time wrestler. "That dream match that never happened in a lot of people’s mind is Austin/(Hulk) Hogan. But, in the current crop? I don’t really know. It would have been neat to work against a John Cena.
"Or the Rock or Undertaker or Triple H again. But that one dream match that never happened was Austin/Hogan. I could still, you know if I was in a bad situation, I could still get two years out of my carcass on a full-time basis... At about 90, 95% of what I used to do."
Austin also said he's happy with life outside of wrestling. "But I’m happy where I’m at," he said. "And in ten or twenty years I still want to be doing the things I’m doing with my hunting and fishing. I want to continue to do that in a pain-free fashion. And right now I’m living a pretty pain-free lifestyle." To read the full interview, visit xfinitytv.comcast.net. [Thanks to Gary Shafer]
Powell's POV: The glare between Austin and The Rock at WrestleMania 27 combined with Austin saying he could work two more years as a full-time wrestler will open the door to even more speculation about Austin working another match. There's no reason to believe he'll return to the ring on a full-time basis, and I'd still be surprised if he returned to the ring for even one match. Then again, I was also surprised when The Rock returned to wrestling and eventually announced his return to the ring.
