WWE Press Conference Highlights: Vince McMahon, Triple H, John Cena, and Maria hype the $1 million giveaway

-An incredibly well done video put over WWE's place in pop culture by showcasing celebrity appearances, wrestler appearances on talk shows and magazine covers, and touting their own success in pay-per-view, television, and on the internet. Very well done.
-Live at Staples Center, Todd Grisham welcomed everyone to the Press conference. Grisham introduced Vince's million dollars in cash as the star of the show. The expressionless security guards walked out with the cash inside a glass or plastic case and placed it inside another case on the podium.
-Grisham introduced John Cena. Plenty of boos. He went to the podium and then left to visit some special needs fans. Back at the podium, Cena told the media that they were listening to the "sound of passion" as they continued to boo/cheer him. Cena said WWE was essentially in their infancy because Vince McMahon created WrestleMania in the '80s. He talked about where the other major sports were 20 years into their existence.
Powell's POV: 20 years?
-Grisham introduced Maria, who hyped the giveaway and then introduced Gabe Karp from E-Prize. The crowd chanted, "Who are you?" He responded, "We're the ones who are making sure you get the money." He ran through the companies they've worked with.
The crowd chanted "What" after everything he said. He did a great job of playing into it by pausing after every company he listed. He said over 300,000 people have already registered. He believes it will be the largest contest registry in history.
Powell's POV: Very funny moment with Karp pausing before saying company names like Subway and McDonalds. He was a good sport.
Maria sat down at a table and tried to register. All she had to do was hit the submit button, but it took her about 30 seconds. Grisham came out and reminded Maria that WWE employees and their families are not eligible.
Powell's POV: I hope a wrestler wins the contest and sues the company on the grounds that they're not actually employees of the company.
Grisham introduced Triple H. He referred to one of the security guards as "Rodeo Todd" and said he rode a fan around the ring for five or six minutes last night. Funny. Hunter said Vince is either a genius or he's crazy. "Everybody knows he's my father-in-law," Hunter said. "He comes to my house a lot and I spend a lot of time with him and let me just assure you that he is absolutely crazy."
-USA Network's Chris McCumber hyped the giveaway. Yawn.
-Grisham introduced Vince McMahon, who hyped WWE's popularity. He said he's going to give away one million dollars per week and he'll keep doing it for as long as he feels like it. He invited viewers to tune into Raw for more information on how he'll distribute the money.
-Vince turned it over to the media. He was asked why he didn't do this during sweeps. Vince said he came up with the idea within the last few weeks.
-On how long the contest will last: "The answer to that is as long as I like," Vince said. He said he hoped to generate publicity via the press conference and assumed the media would be interested a crazy billionaire giving his money away.
Powell's POV: Well, that was a huge waste of time for anyone who was already familiar with the basics of the giveaway. It's wise of WWE to hold a press conference to promote this, but did I miss the additional "blockbuster announcement" they were hyping? Vince took about four or five media questions before closing out the press conference.
