WWE News: A recap of MVP and Matt Striker on MSNBC
Sep 28, 2010 - 11:52 AM |
WWE wrestlers MVP and Matt Striker appeared on "MSNBC News Live" on Tuesday. The following are among the highlights.
-MVP spoke about his love of reading. He said he has a tattoo related to the Count of Monte Cristo on his arm. He said he shows it to kids and they are blown away by that. Striker said the Divas going to a school and encouraging an 11 year-old boy to read definitely has an positive effect.
The host of the show as surprised that Striker was a teacher at one time. She asked him how he can get up on his morale high horse when he called in sick to go wrestle. "Just like anything else, you have to spin it," Striker said.
Striker said he still gets emails from his former students who told him his encouragement to follow their dreams inspired them. Striker also said he stops kids and WWE Superstars to correct them for poor grammar. He also said his favorite novel is "Are You There God? It's Me Margaret." Striker admitted he will catch a lot of grief for that, but he said he has four sisters and was handed down books.
Powell's POV: The appearance was short and sweet. Striker handled himself well in response to the question about losing his teaching job because he called in sick to go wrestle on the indy scene. Obviously, that move paid off for him, as it inspired WWE to sign him.
