Rey Mysterio's return from surgery pushed back again
May 14, 2008 - 12:53 PM

Rey Mysterio was originally scheduled to return from bicep surgery in June. However, he has been pulled from the June house shows and no return date has been set, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He underwent surgery back in late February.

Powell's POV: There is plenty of second guessing amongst WWE officials regarding the decision to allow Mysterio have the new surgical procedure that was supposed to reduce his recovery time from six months to just six weeks. He acquired an infection during the initial surgery that led to additional procedures. Keep in mind that the company has a long history with renown surgeon James Andrews, who is widely regarded as one of the top surgeons in the world, yet Mysterio opted to use a different surgeon.

Although Mysterio is currently doing a media tour for WWE in China, one can't help but wonder whether he will take his time coming back given that WWE officials didn't follow through on their promise to keep him involved in the WrestleMania 24 storyline with Floyd Mayweather Jr. I'm not suggesting that Rey will milk the injury, but I would understand if he didn't feel any obligation to rush back since the company didn't keep their word regarding his role.
