WWE News: Preliminary numbers for WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view don't look good
Sep 3, 2010 - 01:46 PM |
WWE has posted the projected number for July's Money in the Bank pay-per-view buys and it's not pretty. The corporate website projects the show as drawing 189,000 buys, which down from the 267,000 buys that Night of Champions did during the same month in 2009.
Powell's POV: Wow! I didn't hit the panic button when the pay-per-view numbers were down in the second quarter because the shows didn't look all that appealing and didn't have a catchy theme. Plus, the numbers were solid for the theme pay-per-view events last year.
However, the Money in the Bank concept is popular, the event was was well promoted, and the show looked strong on paper. Here's hoping this will cause WWE officials to finally accept the fact that they are charging too much money for pay-per-view events.
