WWE News: Pay-per-view numbers take a big hit, numbers are in for Over The Limit, Extreme Rules, and Fatal Four Way
Aug 5, 2010 - 08:31 AM |
WWE released the following first quarter pay-per-view numbers on Thursday as part of the second quarter earnings report.
-The Over The Limit pay-per-view scored 197,000 buys, which is down from the 228,000 buys that the Judgment Day pay-per-view drew around the same time in 2009.
-The Extreme Rules pay-per-view drew 182,000 buys, which is down from the 213,000 buys the same title earned in 2009.
-The Fatal Four Way pay-per-view drew 143,000 buys, which is down from the 178,000 buys that The Bash event drew around the same time in 2009.
Powell's POV: Those damn communal viewing habits! Here's hoping we don't have to listen to Vince McMahon use that spin again today in the conference call. As if people getting together to watch pay-per-views is something new. What is new are two of the titles and the increased cost of WWE pay-per-view events.
