Dot Net Exclusive: Lance Cade assessment, Shawn Michaels reputation for dealing with wrestlers he trained
May 5, 2008 - 11:42 AM

It's no secret that WWE officials are high on Lance Cade and are setting him up for a singles push. However, sources who have worked closely with Cade don't believe he's going to be the breakout star that the company is hoping he will be. One observer said he's had several chances to take it to the next level and hasn't stepped up. The source went so far as to say that Cade has been labeled a bland Jeff Jarrett, while another source said he simply lacks charisma.

That Cade was trained at the wrestling school owned by Shawn Michaels doesn't helps his cause as much as some people might assume it does. Although Michaels wields plenty of political stroke in WWE, he is said to be very honest in his assessments of the wrestlers he trained. "You wouldn't even know he trained them," said one source.

Powell's POV: I was surprised to hear so much negativity regarding Cade because he definitely has his share of supporters in the WWE office. I've been hearing for a while now that the company has plans for him and that it was only a matter of time before they moved him away from Trevor Murdoch.

Meanwhile, it's good to hear that Michaels isn't overly aggressive when it comes to pushing for the wrestlers who trained at his school. I'm sure he goes to bat for them at times, but I'm told that he doesn't do it in a way that ruins his credibility. Shawn certainly has his share of detractors, but I continue to hear positive things from most sources regarding his work behind the scenes.
