6/22 WWE Smackdown taping: A detailed report on the taping for Friday's television show, Money in the Bank pay-per-view notes (spoilers)
Jun 24, 2010 - 12:30 PM

Dot Net reader Cody Sousa attended the WWE Smackdown taping in Manchester, N.H. on Tuesday and passed along the following report.

The show started off with Teddy Long and Vickie Guerrero on the Titantron. They talked about the attack on Vince McMahon this past Monday and about the new Money In The Bank pay-per-view. They're going to be watching everybody for the next couple of weeks and are going to hand pick the participants (so I guess no qualifying matches).

Drew McIntyre showed up and got into an argument with Teddy. Teddy said now that Vince is gone he has all the control. Teddy reinstated Matt Hardy and the two are going to have a match later. McIntyre looked pissed and then Teddy told him to leave and out of nowhere, Vickie Guerrero went face and yelled at McIntyre.

1. Big Show defeated Jack Swagger by DQ. Swagger came out and cut a promo about his dad (it was Father's Day on Fatal Four Way Sunday) and how he blamed Kane for costing him the title. Pretty good match. The crowd really hated Swagger and were into Big Show. Swagger worked on Big Show's foot/leg throughout the match. The DQ came when Swagger put Show in the ankle lock (shades of Kurt Angle) and Big Show grabbed the ropes and the ref counted to five. Big Show sold the ankle injury afterward.

2. Christian, MVP, and Kofi Kingston defeated The Gatecrashers (Vance Archer & Curt Hawkins) & Dolph Ziggler. A very good match. MVP was over with the crowd, a lot MVP chants but I'm pretty sure they were during the commercial breaks. I like the Gatecrashers but they need a good feud to get them over, as no one knew who they were. Christian and Kofi were over as well and Kofi nailed the Trouble In Paradise on Curt (knocking him out of the ring) and then rolled out of the ring while MVP took out Archer. Ziggler went for the Zig Zag on Christian, but he grabbed the ropes and hit the Killswitch for the pin. Seriously, all these guys should be pushed.

3. Matt Hardy defeated Drew McIntyre. A good match. Matt was a bit slow throughout the match and I'm pretty sure he wrestled with his shirt on. Some nice spots on the outside with Drew landing back first on the ring steps. Drew is drawing some good heat but it's not X-Pac heat. Me and like three other guys were the only ones cheering for him. Matt hit the Twist of Fate out of nowhere for the pin. Teddy Long came out and said Drew's visa expired the other day so he is illegally here and now is fired. Drew got pissed and had a temper tantrum, so I'm guessing he'll be gone for a short while.

4. Kelly Kelly defeated Rosa Mendes. Kelly defeated Rosa in about five seconds with her finisher. LayCool had come out on commentary with Kaval (in the stupid sweater vest, he just looked pissed off the whole time). Tiffany was at ringside for Kelly. The entrances lasted longer than the match itself. Kelly and Laycool had somewhat of a stand off. They seriously don't care at all about the divas, but that's nothing new.

5. Kane vs. CM Punk in a No DQ match ended in a no-contest. I was looking forward to some mic work from Punk but all he said was he was innocent and then put the mic down which upset me. Kane and Punk went right after each other. A few minutes later Gallows came out along with the Masked Man and Serena a minute after. If that is Joey Mercury then damn he is in good shape. Kane hit a Chokeslam on the Masked Man on the floor and then hit another Chokeslam on Gallows through the announce table. Punk fled through the crowd with Kane trailing behind. Kane put Punk through two tables before throwing Punk outside where he then took off.

NOTES: Cody Rhodes cut a promo somewhere in there. It was a pretty long one. He kept saying how he was dashing (literally he said it about 100 times). This got the crowd going actually and pissed them off. I thought he was going to have a match but nope. He also talked about how he should be in the Money in The Bank match.

A vignette aired for Alberto Del Rio (also known as Dos Caras/Alberto Banderas). He actually got some heat from this.

Dolph told Vickie their relationship was over because it was supposed to be an "I scratch your back and you scratch my back" kind of deal. I could barely hear what Vickie was saying, the lady seriously is a heat magnet.

Kane started yelling at a casket saying he was going to get revenge tonight against Punk.

My mom was waiting for me outside and was there to see CM Punk get attacked by Kane. Their was security around them the whole time and my mom yelled at Kane to hold on so she can get a picture of them and I. He just stared at my mom. Kane, Eli Cottonwood, Big Show, and surprisingly Drew McIntyre are seriously huge! Those guys are damn tall!
