Santino Marella discusses life on the road, his relationship with WWE's creative team
Apr 29, 2008 - 11:59 AM

Santino Marella has a positive outlook on the WWE travel schedule. "I don’t know, but I think I am born for the road," Marella told the Blue Mountains Courier-Herald. "For some people it’s really tough, you have responsibilities at home that you just can’t get out of your mind. I am able to function on the road, definitely. I love it. I am not one to sit still anyways. A new town every day is fine by me.

“You have to be really professional. You have to be disciplined and push yourself/. There’s a lot of freedom, but the freedom is only given because you’ve proved that you are being responsible. There’s some people in the past that just couldn’t handle the road. I mean, our current locker room is pretty good, everyone’s pretty cool, everyone’s pretty responsible and professional … this isn’t going to last forever, so you might as well be as focused and disciplined as you can."

He also commented on his relationship with the WWE creative team. “The evolution of the character kind of happened on its own," said Marella. "I have a good relationship with the writers in the office and it was one of those things where they have to gain confidence in you and your ideas,” he said. “And everybody’s really happy about the character.” To read the full interview, click here.

Powell’s POV: Santino has the right attitude regarding travel and it's certainly wise to get in good with the writers. This is a good story that also touches on his past wrestling experiences and his time in Ohio Valley Wrestling, which was a WWE developmental territory at the time.
