WWE News: Jerry Lawler launching a new pro wrestling promotion in Memphis

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler has announced that he is launching a new pro wrestling promotion in Memphis. The first show will be held tonight at The Vine in Memphis, Tenn. The promotion is called "Jerry Lawler's Memphis Wrestling" and will air on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. on Ch. 50 in Memphis. For more on the promotion, visit KingJerryLawler.com.
Powell's POV: WWE has always allowed Lawler to work non-WWE events because he's classified as a member of the broadcast team rather than a pro wrestler. In other words, this announcement will not surprise anyone in WWE, nor should it have any effect on his status with the company.
