Howard Stern rips Presidential candidates for appearing on WWE Raw, other mainstream coverage
Apr 22, 2008 - 10:20 AM

-Dot Net reader Jagger K. sent the following item: On Howard Stern this morning (Sirius channel Howard 100) they played the clips from the candidates that were on Raw. Howard, of course, ripped into them because he thought they sounded forced, desperate, and it was obviously written for them.

Stern compared the candidates to students running for "class president," saying whatever they need to say to different groups. Howard then said he hoped none of them really watch wrestling because he won't vote for a president that watches wrestling. They then started kidding that McCain would make King Kong Bundy "The Secretary Of Defense" and "Hacksaw Jim Duggan" the "Attorney General" in hopes to get votes.

-The story of the Presidential candidates appearing Raw has been picked up by most major news outlets in the United States. FOX News, Yahoo, AOL, and the AP have all picked up the story. It's also making news overseas, as Dot Net reader Danny Eley reports that Sky.com and The Guardian are among the UK sites running stories on their appearances.

Powell’s POV: Guardian blogger Oliver Burkeman referred to the videos as "cringe-inducing awfulness." And he didn't even watch the entire show. I'll have more to say about the candidates in my blog later today.
