WWE News: Shawn Michaels discusses the possibility of retirement at WrestleMania 26, whether he and Undertaker can top their WrestleMania 25 match
Mar 20, 2010 - 03:18 PM

Shawn Michaels didn't give away any spoilers regarding his WrestleMania 26 match with Undertaker, but he talked about whether he could accept retiring now. "To believe Shawn Michaels won't still be part of my life (when I retire) is naive," he said. "I took four years off and I think almost as many people recognized me during that time. Every day I step through the front door, (leaving wrestling) is not as far away as it once was. When it happens, I look forward to the rest and spending time with my family. Few guys get to go out the way I want to.

Michaels was also asked about whether he and Taker can top what they did at WrestleMania 25. "That's the million-dollar question," he said. "I've got to be honest, I don't know. With the stipulation, Career vs. Streak, there's certainly more on the line. There's some finality, so you have to take everything into context.

"After having done what we did, this has to be different. And how do we do that? Both guys have to be ready for either result. Either way, it's good. I'm in a situation where there are a lot of questions and they're tough to answer. To read the full article, go to Slam Wrestling.

Powell's POV: Michaels also spoke about the future of DX and changing with the times. It's a rare HBK interview, so it's highly recommended. Shawn's line about DX never dying will probably lead to a ton of speculation that he's not retiring at WrestleMania 26. I wouldn't read too much into it, as I don't think we've seen the last of HBK even if he loses next weekend. His career as an in-ring regular might conclude, but my guess is that he'd still come back for the occasional big match.
