WWE star Evan Bourne says he still gets nervous when performing the Shooting Star Press, details on what he had to do to convince WWE officials he could execute it safely
Mar 19, 2010 - 01:35 PM |
Evan Bourne was asked by CollegeNews.com whether he gets nervous when he performs the Shooting Star Press finishing move. "Yeah, it’s always scary because the top rope is a variable," Bourne said. "I know I’m going to overcome my fear and I’m going to jump, but what I’m standing on is pretty much two pieces of rope tied together and taped over.
"Maybe there have been guys before me that have been sweating and bleeding all over the place and maybe that’s on my shoe or it’s on the top rope. Or maybe its baby oil, who knows what it could be? Anything that could make me slip could be the end of my career. So every time I go up there, I’m extremely serious." To read the full interview, visit CollegeNews.com.
Powell's POV: As I reported early in Bourne's WWE run, the company was leery of letting him use his finisher. They had him perform it several times during a practice session to show that he could execute it without hurting himself or the wrestler he was performing it on. Bourne makes the move look easy, but anyone who watched Brock Lesnar perform the move and land on his face at WrestleMania 19 knows how dangerous it is.
