2/23 WWE Smackdown taping: Full results of Friday's television show featuring additional Money in the Bank match qualifiers (spoilers)
Feb 24, 2010 - 01:04 PM

Dot Net reader G.J. Schneider attended the WWE Smackdown tapings in Milwaukee, Wisc. on Tuesday and passed along the following report.

Between Superstars and Smackdown tapings, Long and Batista set up an angle where Batista quit Smackdown. Long said he was glad since he didn't want him around anyway. Long said Batista had one last contractual obligation to fill tonight, our dark match main event of Edge vs. Batista for the WWE Championship.

WWE Smackdown Taping

Chris Jericho and Edge did some mic work. Edge says he sees doubt in Jericho's eyes. The segment ended with an Edge spear.

1. Dolph Ziggler over John Morrison and R-Truth in a Triple Threat Money in the Bank qualifier. I was shocked by this one. Morrison hit Truth with Starship Pain, Ziggler pulled Morrison off the pin from the outside and stole the pin.

2. Michelle McCool defeated Mickie James to win the WWE Women's Championship. Vickie Guerrero was special guest referee. Vickie slapped James, and somehow McCool won. It was a terrible match. One good spot where Vickie "fell" out of the ring when going down for a count.

3. Kane over Drew McIntyre in MITB Qualifier. The finish came when McIntyre tried a Sunset flip and Kane stomped him full on in the face to end the undefeated streak. A fairly decent temper tantrum by McIntyre afterwards.

The Miz and Teddy Long did some mic work to set up (a) challengers from Smackdown for the Unified Tag Titles at Mania - that's how I took it from Miz's comments - and (b) a match later with Edge.

4. Shelton Benjamin over CM Punk in MITB Qualifier. Rey Mysterio caused distraction to set up Benjamin's win.

5. Edge over The Miz. Clean, no interference like I expected from Jericho given what took place earlier in show.

Dark Match

1. Edge defeated Batista by DQ. Edge called Batista out after the taping. This was a short match with a DQ finish as Jericho hit the Code Breaker for the outside interference DQ. Matt Hardy made the save and hit the Twist of Fate on Jericho. CM Punk came out with his crew and hit GTS on Hardy. Kane ran out for the chokeslam on Punk. Batista speared Kane. Edge speared Batista. The heels split and the faces did some mic work with crowd to send us home happy.

My favorite line of the night was from Edge when the taping was done: "The Miz might be awesome, but I've reeked of awesomeness for 12 years." Classic.
