The WWE Raw footage featuring Mark Cuban was a topic of conversation on the Tuesday editions of "Around The Horn" and "Pardon The Interruption." The sports reports on "Around The Horn" were negative about pro wrestling for the most part and one of the panelists even stated that Cuban should not have made the appearance.
Michael Wilbon was much more kind on "PTI." He spoke about growing up a fan of the AWA and mentioned Verne Gagne, Nick Bockwinkel and others by name. When Tony Kornheiser told him he should host the show, Wilbon said he doesn't think he's a big enough name. [Thanks to Rich Twilling and Chris Shore]
Powell's POV: WWE's goal with most of the the sports celebrities is clearly to score ESPN attention, and using the PTI hosts would most definitely lead to plenty of ESPN coverage. It wouldn't have global appeal and I doubt they would pop a rating, but Wilbon and Kornheiser would be fun guest hosts. I also caught Jim Rome discussing Cuban's appearance today. He joked about how he didn't think we'd see other prominent sports franchise owners guest hosting Raw in the future.
