WWE has officially launched the WWE Universe website even though it's technically been online since April. "The company will be able to collect more revenue from online ads and merchandise sales," reports Variety. "It also creates a community to which it can promote upcoming projects, including its slate of films that start rolling out early next year."
The story also notes that 40 percent of the WWE Universe users are women. The new video player launched by the company last month has already boosted viewership of online programming 77 percent. To read the full Variety report, click here.
Powell's POV: Am I the only one surprised by the 40 percent female user ratio? I'm not surprised that the new video player has been so successful. The last video player the company used was a train wreck that prevented many users from accessing the company's video programming.
