WWE has released Ken Kennedy from his contract on Friday. The company wished him the best in his future endeavors. To view the statement, visit WWE.com. [Thanks to all the readers who passed along links to the WWE story.]

Powell's POV: Kennedy developed a reputation for being injury prone. He suffered a wrist injury on Monday when he took an RKO at the end of Raw. There's no word on the severity of that injury, but one can only assume that played a part in it. Likewise, a well-placed source notes that Vince McMahon soured on Kennedy last year.

I'm surprised by this move because Kennedy still has a lot of upside. It's a shame that WWE never did more with his character beyond the usual entrance routine. Obviously, they had some ideas for him that didn't pan out because of suspension and injuries, but there was never any real depth to the character. One can only assume that TNA will be champing at the bit to sign him.
