Although most people within WWE are under the impression that the Brock Lesnar and Undertaker confrontation at UFC 121 was not an angle, a well-placed source insists that it was an angle that took place without the blessing of UFC president Dana White.

The WWE source noted that a select group of people within WWE knew going into the show that there was going to be a confrontation of some type between the two men. There is no deal between Lesnar and WWE for a WrestleMania 27 match, although obviously that's what WWE officials are hoping for.

Powell's POV: If it was an angle, then Lesnar is really playing with fire, as I can't even imagine what White's reaction would be if he believes a pro wrestling angle took place during a UFC event. Even if Lesnar has a contractual loophole, which White claims he does not, Brock still runs the risk of upsetting White and facing legal drama for one big payoff.

Those who believe it was an angle are pointing to the fact that Taker appeared to be keeping an eye out for Lesnar throughout the interview with MMA reporter Ariel Helwani, who has denied having any knowledge that an angle was going to take place during the interview.

Ultimately, I believe this was an angle. However, I would be very surprised if this led to a WWE match while Lesnar is under contract to UFC. Lesnar told me in a 2008 interview conducted prior to his fight with Heath Herring that he was open to the idea of returning to WWE for a big money match. Perhaps he will someday, but it's hard to imagine that UFC doesn't have the contractual power to prevent this particular match from happening or that Lesnar would be willing to burn a bridge with the MMA company.
