Dot Net reader Jared Brodeurer attended Tuesday's WWE Smackdown taping in Providence, R.I. and passed along the following report.
Most of the seats were filled except for the top layer. However, it is a small arena so I'm sure the WWE would have liked a better turn out.
Dark Match
1. Eric Escobar defeated Tommy Dreamer. Escobar went over after
a few minutes.
Smackdown/ECW taping notes
Everything shown on ECW happened live except a promo shown before newcomer Vance Archer (which I realized after the match was former TNA star Lance Hoyt) cut a video promo about Providence having nothing which gained him a lot of heat and was a good promo.
Throughout the show there were numerous Hogan chants that got louder when things got boring. It was also humorous to see someone dressed as Hogan leading the chants in the front row. I assume there will be a lot of editing on Smackdown.
The crowd was very hot for Batista and did not accept him as a heel considering all he has done. That shows you how successful this heel turn is so far.
The show started off good. The crowd died towards the end and were completely dead for CM Punk vs. R-Truth along with Batista vs. Matt Hardy. I was lucky to be in an area full of people chanting random things like "We want Regal," or "USA" (during every match), and "Hogan" all night long.
If I had to rate this show it would be a 3 out of 5 due to the energy was there in the beginning but died out through the night and was dead by the end. Thank god for the dark match between Undertaker and CM Punk for bringing the crowd back for a pretty good match.
