WWE Raw onsite report: Live crowd's reaction to Undertaker and C.M. Punk promo, "boring" chants during the John Cena promo, lack of interest in the Intercontinental Title picture

Dot Net reader Josh Arnold attended Monday's WWE Raw television event in Washington, D.C. and sent the following report.

I am not sure how it came across on television, but the crowd kept its energy throughout most of the night. The biggest pops/heat was obviously reserved for the big name segments, but every match throughout the entire taping got some reaction.

The match that probably got the least overall reaction was the Wade Barrett vs. Zack Ryder match, which probably has something to do with how little the Intercontinental Title scene has been pushed. Many people, in my section at least, audibly groaned when we saw the graphic that Miz vs. Barrett was being relegated to the pre-show (although maybe not necessarily because they wanted to see that match on the main card but had no faith on whatever non-wrestling segment takes its place).

Just a quick note on the "boring" chants. The boring chant that started during John Cena's promo had more of the feeling of a "same old shit" chant as opposed to the crowd being legitimately uninterested. For the rest of the night, any boring chant was pretty much restricted to a small segment of the crowd, even though it apparently (based on the Dot Net live coverage report and Arda Ocal's tweets) came across as being much more significant on television.

The C.M. Punk vs. Undertaker segment was interesting and I can't wait to see how it came across on TV. When Punk opened the urn and poured out the ashes, many in the crowd seemed to gasp and/or go silent. This left the pro-Punk contingent as the only vocal members of the crowd, which led to the seemingly large CM Punk chant at the end.

The post-show dark match was the standard The Shield vs. Cena, Ryback, and Sheamus six-man tag with The Shield losing via DQ and the faces hitting all their finishes to send the crowd home happy.
