WWE News: WWE Network target launch date

WWE officials are said to be targeting the WWE Network launch around the same time as WrestleMania 28 takes place in April. The company has not publicly announced a launch date thus far. Rather, they are publicly listing it for a 2012 launch.

Powell's POV: I understand the mindset of trying to launch the network at the same time that interest in the company is traditionally at its peak, but that launch date feels premature given the amount of work that would need to be done before then. Unless the company intends to buy an existing network, they still need to get their network picked up by various cable and satellite companies, and that is easier said than done, as the NFL found out when they launched their own network. It strikes me as wishful thinking by WWE, but the fact that they haven't publicly listed a definitive launch date means they can still abandon their internal target date.
