WWE News: Vince McMahon says he rejected a WWE Network plan from cable and satellite carriers

Vince McMahon stated in an interview with the Los Angeles Times that he rejected plans for a commercial cable network and a pay channel model similar to HBO. In fact, WWE had deals on the table with major distributors that would have generated fees of 20 cents per month, per subscriber. "I said, much to the chagrin of my staff, I'm not going to sign it," Vince McMahon said. He added that the terms pay-television distributors wanted as "too restrictive." Read more at LAtimes.com.

Powell's POV: If WWE tops the one million subscriber count and can walk through a minefield when it comes to angry cable and satellite providers (see DirecTV), then Vince's refusal to sign off on the 20 cents deal could turn out to be one of the best moves he's ever made.
