The WWE website jumped on the story about the Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz giving authority poll registrars the right to ask voters to cover WWE merchandise. The website features a headline that reads, "State of Connecticut threatens WWE fans' right to vote."

"Denying our fans the right to vote, denying them their First Amendment rights, regardless if they are Democrat, Republican or Independent, is un-American, unconstitutional and blatantly discriminatory,” Vince McMahon said in a statement in the accompanying story. You can read the story at WWE.com.

Powell's POV: Are you f'n kidding me? No one is denying WWE fans the right to vote or taking away their first amendment rights by asking them to not advertise the company logo at the polls. There is a law on the book that prevents advertising, and it was determined that Linda McMahon is so closely associated with the company that the WWE logo would essentially be advertising for Linda.

The whole thing seems rather silly, but WWE's response is asinine. Vince loves to portray himself and his company as victims, but in this case they look ridiculous for giving such a twisted version of the story. You have to wonder whether Linda's campaign leaders are shaking their heads in disbelief over WWE's antics at this point.
