WWE executive George Barrios provided Business Week with an update on the domestic television rights negotiations. "We think we’ll be able to announce a new domestic rights partner at the end of April or beginning of May," Barrios stated.

The story cites sources with knowledge of the situation as stating that WWE has had talks with AMC Networks, Viacom, Time Warner, Turner Networks, and 21st Century Fox Inc. Read the full story at Businessweek.com/news/2014-03-07/wwe-expects-new-cable-tv-deal-by-early-may-cfo-barrios-says.

Powell's POV: Obviously, WWE has also had talks with NBC Universal. However, they were unable to reach a new agreement during the exclusive negotiating window. It has been reported by the New York media that NBCU has the right to match any offer WWE receives. Viacom is most interesting, as Spike TV falls under its umbrella and is the longtime home of TNA Impact Wrestling. Popular speculation is that Jeff Jarrett's promotion could end up on CMT, which also falls under the Viacom umbrella. Both companies would obviously be in a tough spot if WWE were to sign an exclusive deal with Viacom that went unmatched by NBCU.
