WWE star Rey Mysterio intends to work through his latest knee injury until after WrestleMania 26, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Mysterio will then undergo his sixth surgery on his left knee.
Powell's POV: Mysterio doesn't want to miss out on another WrestleMania payday. He was originally slated to play a bigger role with Floyd Mayweather Jr. at WrestleMania 24, but missed the show due to triceps surgery. He was upset at the time because he claims he was assured that he would still be involved in the storyline and collect a WrestleMania payoff. However, the fans turned Mayweather, and Mysterio was left off the WrestleMania show.
Given the severity of Rey's knee problems, one can only hope that WWE officials have consulted with Mysterio's physician to insure that he's not doing long term damage by continuing to work. Without knowing all the details, it seems ridiculous that WWE is going to allow a wrestler who needs knee surgery to work roughly four more months.
