WWE announcer Michael Cole used the word "fa---t" on Twitter earlier today in response to a Josh Mathews post. Cole, who deleted the post, followed up by writing, "I apologize to any and all who were offended by my tweet toward young Josh Mathews," Cole wrote. "It was obviously not meant the way it was taken."

WWE responded by stating that they alerted GLAAD to Cole's post and addressed the situation with him. "Michael will be included in the training session being done by GLAAD," WWE officials noted as part of their statement. For more on the story and to view tthe screen caps, visit TMZ.com.

Powell's POV: I can't believe Cole would be so stupid, and his apology was about as weak as it gets. Yes, he used the actual word, not that censored version I listed above. This comes on the heels of WWE agreeing to work with the group GLAAD, who criticized the company and John Cena for telling gay jokes on Raw.

Cole is lucky to still have a job, and it will be interesting to see whether the company is pressured into punishing him more severely. I wonder how much different the company's punishment would have been if Cole were not featured in a key match at WrestleMania 27. Can you imagine what the reaction would be if FOX announcer Joe Buck posted the same word on his Twitter page? I'm not a fan of Buck, but something tells me he wouldn't be so damn stupid.
