St. Louis Rams linebacker James Laurinaitis appeared on the Extreme Pro Wrestling Live Radio show on KFAN-1130 in the Twin Cities on Sunday and cleared up any confusion about a previous interview in which he addressed the possibility of working for WWE during the NFL lockout.

"No, the way the report was taken I was actually joking about this whole lockout fiasco," Laurinaitis said. "We were able to go into the facility on Friday and I remember talking to our PR guy for the St. Louis Rams Ted Cruise and went up to him to tell him the way I said my response and the way it got kind of blown out of proportion by the Ohio State News Paper.

"He goes, 'Yeah, I knew when I read your quote right away that you were being sarcastic.' The way the question was asked was if there is no football are you going to go wrestle? I said I guess it would be the popular answer you know with it running in the family. But then I went on to say its way too dangerous right now (and) I don’t think my father would advise that and I don’t think that my uncle would let me as long as I’m under contract.

"That’s something you don’t want to mess with you know I’ve seen the injuries first hand. The next thing you know the headline just screams if football doesn’t happen Laurinaitis to get into the ring and I’m like jeez." To listen to the full interview, visit KFAN.com. Powell's POV: James's father, Road Warrior Animal, appeared in studio throughout the one-hour show with hosts Crisco and Big D. The uncle that James is referring to is John Laurinaitis, who works as the senior vice president of talent relations for WWE. James understandably isn't interested in working for WWE right now, but I wonder if he'll have second thoughts once his NFL career concludes. He's entering his third year in the NFL and he's en emerging star, so I think it will be a long time before he seriously considers the family business.
