Suspended WWE star Chris Jericho admitted fault after denigrating the Brazilian flag at a live event in San Paulo. "I made a bad judgment call in the course of entertaining fans in Brazil," Jericho said.

"I apologized to the people in the crowd for showing disrespect. It was a bad move. I did it with our fans' entertainment in mind and I'll accept the consequences for that." Read the statement at WWE.com/inside/chris-jericho-responds-to-brazil-incident.

Powell's POV: Local police nearly arrested Jericho. They gave him the option of apologizing to fans or face incarceration. Obviously, Jericho made the right call in apologizing. This should make for one hell of a chapter in his next book.

A number of emailers have asked whether its a work or assume this is how WWE opted to write Jericho off television while his band goes on tour. I don't believe WWE would risk an international incident for an angle, and Jericho's band is only doing four dates in June. I know I can't convince the "everything is a work" crowd, but would they really have him break from his heel character and talk about how he was trying to entertain the fans?
