New WWE Hall of Famer Bruno Sammartino spoke with KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Pa. about why he finally accepted the induction invitation after all these years. "So much steroids and unfortunately other drugs involved in that,” he said of why he repeatedly declined. “And I was very appalled by that. I hated seeing the game that I had been in for all those years come down to that. We started having some deaths and so forth, reported due to these drugs."

It was noted that fellow Pittsburgh native Joseph Maroon is now in place as the WWE medical director. "And they do very strict drug testing,” Sammartino added. “And just from watching it now, I can see that these guys are not on drugs." You can view the piece at Pittsburgh.cbslocal.com.

Powell's POV: It's a brief piece that features Sammartino being interviewed and showing off the title belt he won in 1963. Thanks to Dot Net reader Robert Rae for passing along the video.
