WWE News: Bob Backlund's celebrity Hall of Fame inductor

Maria Menounos announced on "Live on Kelly and Michael" and announced that she will induct Bob Backlund into the WWE Hall of Fame. You can view footage of her making the announcement at WWE.com.

Powell's POV: This has been rumored for weeks. It's an odd choice by WWE, but apparently they opted for the celebrity and the extra exposure over going with someone with a connection to Backlund. It should be interesting to see how the WWE fans respond to her speech on April 6.

Update: Menounos stated in the video that she has known Backlund since she was 19 years old and it does sound like there's a legitimate connection between the two. She's also been photographed wearing a Backlund t-shirt in the past.
