A Dot Net Member who works for a cable company call center sent the following editorial that shows consumer confusion regarding the WWE Network.

The call center that I work in will typically average at least two to three calls a day where it is someone asking to order the WWE Network, but it is definitely higher on Mondays. The call center that I work in will take over 1,000 calls between the 100-plus people that work there, so that may not seem like a lot, but we are one of the smaller call centers we have in the area and as we are getting closer to the launch of the network it has not slowed down at all.

Now as far as me being sick of those calls when they are so few, you have to understand that my call center is the "Sales" call center, so obviously we are getting calls for something we can't sell them and thus not make any money off of because we work off of commission, so that's why it's aggravating on my end. Normally, I would be happy to talk WWE with someone all day long.

I have started to dig around a little bit more with the customers that do call in, looking for the WWE Network, and from what I've gathered from my coworkers that have handled these calls from our customers also, there seems to be three main points that cause the confusion, at least from what I can gather.

No. 1: The fact that the WWE did originally announce the Network for 2012, and when they announced it the first time as a television network, and people remember this and are carrying the information over to today.

No. 2: In our service area, we did have a few places where we offered the WWE Classics on Demand service, and because that service just recently went dark at the end of the month here in January, some people just assumed that the WWE Network would be available on their TV service to replace that service that is no longer available.

No. 3: This is the big one, but the name "WWE Network" itself apparently makes people automatically think of a TV Network station.

Regardless of which reason, people still think that the WWE Network is something that will be available through their Cable or Satellite provider does show that WWE is just not doing enough to get the point across to their casual, less tech savvy audience. They really need to do something to drive this home to viewers.

I know that now when I do get these calls, and I will take the time to explain to my customer what the WWE Network is and how they can view it, and also offer to get them set up with a good internet connection to use for the Network (again, I'm in Sales, I'm trying to make a living here.) More times than not, the response that I get is they don't want to have to mess with it, and tell me to forget it.
