Dot Net reader Sam Robinson sent the following notes after viewing the WWE Backlash pay-per-view in person on Sunday night.

Just got back from Backlash live from Baltimore, and it was a great live show. The arena was full and I didn’t see an empty seat anywhere in the house, even hard camera side where I was sitting. We had a dark match that wasn’t shown on PPV. However, anyone who has been watching WWE television over the last month has seen this matchup numerous times.

Dark Match

1. John Morrison and The Miz defeated Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore to retain the WWE Tag Titles. The crowd was really hot.  Morrison and Miz got lots of strong heat which generally shocked me.

PPV Notes

Tazz wasn’t even watching the opening match. Rather, he was looking over his script and looked like he was trying to ignore Mike Adamle. I was surprised at the mixed reaction for MVP. During the match the crowd was solidly behind Hardy, but during the entrances MVP got quite the mixed reaction.

I know everyone says it, but Kane’s pyro is just something that has to be experienced live. I was two sections up and facing the stage, and I could feel the pyro from that far up.

I saw the stretcher out by ringside when we came in, so I knew someone was going back out on it. I just didn’t know who until Edge was wheeled out.

The main event was a very good match live. There was great intensity and a real sense that anyone could win at first. John Cena got his typical mixed reaction and everyone else got the reactions you would expect. Well, except Randy Orton. I think I may have figured out why they haven’t changed his music.  As his music played all the adults were booing their hearts out, but it seemed like every little kid I could see was singing along to the song.

When Triple H won, the pyro they set off was just deafening and my ears are still ringing as I write this.

All in all WWE does a great live show, and now I’m a bit upset it has taken me more than 10 years before tonight to go check one out.

Biggest Pop:
1. Taker Retaining
2. HHH Winning
3. Cena

Most Heat:
1. Orton
2. Miz/Morrison winning their dark match (I’m serious they had crazy heat)
3. Edge
