Former WWE executive Shane McMahon spoke at the 40th annual Global Media and Communications Conference and gave an update on the video on demand service YOU On Demand that will launch during the first quarter of 2013. The service is already in beta, and McMahon has licensed content from Universal Pictures, Warner Bros., Disney and Paramount. McMahon believes the service will be something like Netflix for China. Shore's Slant: The only new thing here is the Universal Pictures deal as the rest of Shane's plans have been known for some time. The Hollywood Reporter does ask a good question: Why hasn't the service licensed content from Fox or Sony? McMahon insists that it is just a matter of time, but they also said Shane was vague on his answer. I doubt it has anything to do with WWE, but it is an interesting situation consider he has the other major studios on board.
