WWE.com interviewed David Chao, who performed Rey Mysterio’s biceps surgery on Wednesday. “Rey made it (the tear) worse by trying to compete with this injury on more than one occassion, but we are confident the surgery has repaired all damage.”
Chao also commented on the timetable for Rey’s return to the ring by noting, “this type of injury normally requires a recovery period of six-nine months... but Rey has shown his body recovers quickly from the injury.” To read the full story, visit WWE.com.
Powell’s POV: I reported Wednesday morning that Mysterio hopes to return to action in six weeks. He decided to go with Chao because he performs a new procedure that requires less recovery time than the procedure used by James Andrews, who performs most surgeries on WWE performers. I was also told that Rey even spoke with Vince McMahon about the new procedure. It’s hard to say at this point whether the timeline changed or if WWE.com chose to omit the surgeon’s comments regarding a shorter recovery time for story line purposes.
