John Cena didn't back down during an interview on the Opie and Anthony radio show this morning. He stood by past comments made to the UK Sun that were critical of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Cena recalled Johnson claiming that he would never leave wrestling behind, yet says he clearly has.
Cena added that it makes his life harder because nobody believes him when he says he will always remain part of pro wrestling even if he has acting success. To read a detailed recap of Cena's appearance in which he discusses steroid use and visiting "an establishment of ill repute" to relax, visit Alfonso Castillo's column and Newsday.com.
Powell's POV: Even if you disagree with Cena's take on Johnson, you have to respect the fact that he's not backing down from his original statement. I don't think Johnson has walked away from wrestling entirely, though. After all, he just appeared at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, and the company will be cashing in on another Rock DVD release. I'd love to hear Rock's respond to Cena's statements just to hear his side of the story.
