Jim Ross issued a followup blog to set the record straight about something he wrote about Starrcade and WrestleMania in his previous blog. "Starrcade was created in 1983. WrestleMania was created in 1985. Now that we have that established allow me to interpret my original message indicating that Starrcade was the NWA’s answer to the WWE’s WrestleMania," Ross wrote.
"Obviously I did not explain this well. JCP often talked after the first ‘Mania that the NWA already had 'their Mania' in Starrcade. After the success of the first ‘Mania, an increased focused was put on Starrcade to be as big as WrestleMania. McMahon hit gold with his PPV 'big event' concept and Jim Crockett Promotions wanted to follow suit and essentially mortgaged their future to some degree to do so." Powell's POV: Wait, the Super Bowl is still in February, right? Not much to say about this one since J.R. was simply clarifying what he meant when wrote earlier today. In case you missed it, you can read J.R.'s first Monday blog by clicking here.
