Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights.
-Ross on Torrie Wilson: "Congrats to Torrie Wilson for finishing runner up on NBC's "I'm a Celebrity...Get me out of here! Torrie held her own by being smart and staying off the radar to a large degree notwithstanding the votes of the fans. Torrie is dating former Spirit Squad member Nick Mitchell who defines the term of out kicking is coverage."
Powell's POV: I watched one episode of the show and was bored to tears. Congrats to Torrie, though.
-Ross on his upcoming autograph appearance with Jerry Lawler: "The King and I are making a somewhat harmless appearance in Chicago on September 6 and some 'scribes' are making a huge deal out of it and not in a positive way. I don't get that quite frankly. We both enjoy meeting fans of the genre plus I like watching new talent wrestle as the next new 'big thing' might be wrestling that night. It is the night before the September 7 Raw in Chicago of which I assume we will be taping a SD Superstars bout so I had to be in town anyway. If any wrestling websites are making a big deal of this matter then it really has been a slow, news week."
Powell's POV: WWE announcers have the freedom to make such appearances. If the company doesn't mind, I don't know why anyone else would. Smart move by Dragon Gate USA.
-Ross on the Randy Savage DVD: Good to see that the WWE produced Randy Savage DVD debuted at #1 and even moved ahead of WM25 on the DVD charts. It will be even more interesting to see how long the Savage compilation of bouts will remain at #1 or near the top.
Powell's POV: I'm not surprised. Savage fans have been waiting for this one for years. I'm one disc in and hope to watch a little more of the three-disc set later today. Great stuff so far. By the way, I assume J.R. is talking about the sports and recreation charts, not the overall DVD sales chart.
Other topics include Jerry Brisco, The Bash pay-per-view, ho to score an autographed Jim Ross cap, and BBQ sauce as low as $3.95 per bottle.
