Jim Ross comments on Tommy Dreamer appearing at a TNA event, Hulk Hogan retiring Ric Flair
Feb 23, 2008 - 12:49 PM |
|
Jim Ross updated the blog section of JRsbarbq.com. The following items are among the highlights.
-Ross on Tommy Dreamer appearing at the TNA house show on Thursday: “Tommy Dreamer was reportedly seen at a non WWE wrestling event recently...gasp...that made internet headlines.”
Powell’s POV: Did some websites make a big fuss over this? I assumed it was common knowledge that Dreamer goes way back with Team 3D and tight with Christian Cage. There’s nothing more to the story that I’m aware of.
-Ross on Kurt Angle telling a radio host that he’d like to fight Randy Couture: “Not that I wouldn’t pay big MMA/PPV money to see it, but the likelihood of a Kurt Angle vs. Randy Couture match is about as likely as yours truly being included in Mr. McMahon’s will.”
Powell’s POV: I don't know who Angle thinks he's fooling with these comments. It generates some internet buzz about him, but I hope he doesn't think anyone still believes he's going to take part in an MMA match.
-Ross on Hulk Hogan telling MTV.com that he would like to face Ric Flair in a retirement match at WrestleMania 24: “As Gorilla Monsoon used to say, ‘highly unlikely’...BROTHER!”
Powell's POV: Amen. I'm not saying the match wouldn't draw more buys, but Hogan is among the last people I'd want to retire Flair. Too much negative history for Flair fans.
-Ross took a jab at TNA’s recent wedding angle: “Why is it that most ‘wrestling weddings’ I have ever seen on TV over the years end up being trainwrecks and embarrassments to the business or is that even possible anymore?”
Powell's POV: Can you blame him for taking a shot? I suppose the out (if he needs one) is that he was taking a preemptive shot at a possible Edge and Vickie Guerrero wedding angle.
