The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation issued a statement to TMZ.com regarding Chris Jericho using an anti-gay slur during a movie convention. ""Just three months ago Chris Jericho's boss and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon acknowledged to GLAAD that words matter," stated GLAAD chairman Jarrett Barrios.
"There is no time, context or occasion in which it is acceptable to utter racist and anti-gay slurs. Jericho's hollow apology 'if (he) offended anyone' is a template used by many and is insincere and worn." To read the full story, visit TMZ.com.
Powell's POV: Jericho used the word in jest while taking a comedic approach to his onstage appearance. Some people are offended by the word and feel that it should never be used. I get it. I'm personally just not offended by someone using the word in an obviously joking manner.
