Former WWE creative team member Seth Mates posted a story in his Newsday.com blog about Steve Austin costing himself a spot in the WrestleMania 18 main event. "The main event of WrestleMania 18 in Toronto was supposed to be Triple H winning the title from Stone Cold Steve Austin," Mates writes.

"But coming off the Alliance storyline, Stone Cold insisted on being turned face again, effectively talking himself out of the main event of WrestleMania. It might have been a merchandise thing, I'm not sure." To read the full blog entry, visit Newsday.com.

Powell’s POV: That's an interesting story because Austin made it known that he wasn't happy about working with Scott Hall at WrestleMania 18, and this helps explain why he was so low on the card that year. Chris Jericho can apparently thank Austin, as that was the year that he worked the main event with Hunter.

By the way, Seth's blog also includes a story about Torrie Wilson getting a storyline sister that never came to fruition. As always, it's an entertaining read from someone who worked behind the scenes in WWE.
