Vince McMahon held a teleconference meeting over the weekend with Stephanie McMahon and the lead writers of his television shows. During the meeting, Vince made it clear that he was not happy with the comments Rey Mysterio made to the Mexican media regarding his "unjust" wellness policy suspension.

The buzz within WWE on Monday was that Vince was considering the idea of sending a stern message via the way Mysterio is written off television. A well-placed source noted, "Every idea is being discussed from something big to a quick write out you might miss if you aren't watching each and every segment." The source also noted that while plans can change, "Right now it's looking like either a quick smash up or a more humiliating exit."

Powell's POV: The feeling of everyone I've spoken with is that Mysterio made a big mistake by speaking out about his suspension. One of the ideas that was pitched to write off Mysterio and punish him at the same time is to remove his mask at the show. Another idea was to strip Rey of the title and hold a tournament, but a source says that seems unlikely because Vince would prefer to have the champion drop the title. At this point, though, nothing is official, and Vince is simply listening to all ideas regarding Mysterio's exit.

The idea of tacking on additional time to his suspension for speaking out about the policy was mentioned, but it would be a bold move by the company given that Rey is the centerpiece of the promotion for the Smackdown/ECW shows scheduled for mid-October in Mexico. My guess is that cooler heads will prevail once Vince and Mysterio meet at the Smackdown taping in Cleveland, but it will be very interesting to see how they write him off television this week.
