The feeling of multiple sources is that Vince McMahon will go out of his way to keep Batista in the fold. Batista has mentioned the idea of retiring in a year or two. Current and former colleagues believe he means what he's saying and isn't just posturing for a better deal. However, they also feel that Vince will make enough contractual concessions to make Batista happy and active in the ring.
Powell's POV: I'd heard from people that Batista has a reputation as a free spender and that might be one reason he'd consider staying. I've been told by others since then that he's managed his money well. Essentially, the feeling is "he's spent a lot of money, but he's made a lot more." Good for him if that's the case.
Batista does big business for WWE overseas. I've also been told that he's the most popular wrestler on the international tours and WWE is well aware of this, which explains why Vince would go out of his way to keep him in the ring.
